About

Physical Education forms an integral component of the holistic educational framework, aimed at fostering the overall development of individuals—physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, and spiritually—through structured and well-designed physical activities. It emphasizes the importance of total body movement and active participation in promoting a balanced and healthy lifestyle.

The objectives of Physical Education are dynamic and evolve in response to contemporary societal needs. The primary goal of most educational institutions is to equip students with the knowledge, skills, values, and motivation necessary to sustain a healthy and active lifestyle throughout adulthood. The programme is carefully designed to enhance physical fitness, develop motor skills, and impart a sound understanding of rules, strategies, and the principles underlying various sports and games. It also encourages teamwork, leadership, discipline, and sportsmanship, while enabling students to perform effectively both as individuals and as members of a team across a wide spectrum of competitive and recreational activities.

The Department of Physical Education at MBC is supported by excellent infrastructure and modern facilities that cater to diverse sporting interests. The campus features a well-maintained green sports ground with a 400-meter athletic track, along with dedicated fields for football and cricket. Separate courts for handball and volleyball are also available to promote active participation in team sports.

A well-designed basketball court, located at the central quadrangle, serves as a prominent attraction of the campus and a hub for student engagement. In addition, four shuttle badminton courts are maintained to accommodate both men and women. The department also houses a fully equipped multi-gymnasium facility accessible to all students, along with indoor game amenities such as table tennis, carrom, and chess.

Through these comprehensive facilities and programs, the institution is committed to nurturing physical well-being, competitive spirit, and overall personality development among its students.

Physical Education Daily Activities

To foster a strong sporting culture and encourage active participation among students, the Department of Physical Education consistently promotes regular sports and fitness activities on campus. Emphasis is placed on integrating physical activity into the daily routine of students, thereby contributing to their overall health and well-being.

A fully equipped gymnasium is operational during both morning and evening hours, providing convenient access for students and staff. The facility is maintained to high standards and is supervised by a full-time professional trainer who offers guidance, structured workout plans, and ensures safe and effective use of equipment.

In addition to fitness training, a wide range of outdoor sports activities such as cricket, football, basketball, and volleyball are conducted daily, typically between 4:30 PM and 6:30 PM. These sessions encourage student engagement, teamwork, and skill development in a disciplined environment. The department ensures that all necessary sports equipment is regularly updated and readily available, supporting continuous participation and the pursuit of excellence in sports.

Participation in KTU Games

Under the proactive initiatives of the Department of Physical Education at MBC, college teams actively participated in various intercollegiate sports events organized by APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) during the current academic year. These participations reflect the institution’s commitment to promoting competitive sports and nurturing athletic excellence among students.

The College Cricket Team delivered an impressive performance at the KTU Zonal Games, securing Third Place in the intercollegiate cricket tournament. Adding to this achievement, Mr. Nibin Binoy (S2 ECE) earned distinction by being selected to represent the University Cricket Team, highlighting the individual talent nurtured within the institution.

Both the Men’s and Women’s Badminton Teams represented the college in the Intercollegiate Badminton Tournament, with the Women’s Team achieving the Runner-up position, demonstrating commendable skill, determination, and teamwork.

In addition, college teams actively competed in intercollegiate tournaments in football, volleyball, and basketball. The teams exhibited strong performances and competitive spirit, delivering closely contested matches against their opponents.

Through such consistent participation and achievements, the Department continues to inspire students to excel in sports while fostering discipline, teamwork, and a spirit of healthy competition.
